Patrick J. Solano

1925-2021

Pat’s Legacy and Service

“It will be a fun day to meet some of your dear old friends and some of your dear old enemies”

Born on June 22, 1925, in Pittston, Pennsylvania, the son of Italian immigrants, Patrick J. Solano dedicated himself to a life of service. From his start as a decorated member of the U.S. Air Force serving in Europe during World War II, Pat went on to a distinguished career as a public servant and left behind a legacy that is still with us today.

Pat’s journey in state government lead him to work for nine Pennsylvania governors of both major political parties. Serving as the Deputy Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources and the Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Pat was a trusted advisor, a voice of reason, and a unifying force in Harrisburg.

Always an advocate for Northeastern Pennsylvania, Pat founded the Northeast Pennsylvania Leadership Fund to support the future leaders of the region.

Pat’s legacy lives on through the extraordinary contributions he made to the lives of his family and friends, to the state and country which he served, and to Northeast Pennsylvania.

About the Fund

Mission Statement

Good government in our democracy requires capable citizens willing to stand for election to public office; a calling that entails tremendous personal effort and sacrifice. Those willing to follow this honorable path of service to our community need and deserve the support of many others, both financially and politically, to make and sustain positive achievements in public life.

The Northeast Pennsylvania Leadership Fund is organized to identify, encourage and assist election efforts of exemplary candidates in a multi-county area of Northeast, Pennsylvania. The Fund has a resolute mission to provide support to those who will advance the principles of accountable, responsible government and the continual improvement of the quality of life in our region and state.

Blue Ridge Trail was thoughtfully carved out of the woods and valleys in the rolling hills of Northeastern, PA. The result is a course with a private feel and breathtaking scenery.
